As the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming in the United States, USA Swimming is a 400,000-member service organization that promotes the culture of swimming by creating opportunities for swimmers and coaches of all backgrounds to participate and advance in the sport through clubs, events and education. This role will be a key part of the leadership of the Commercial Division at USA Swimming. The Division’s core functions include:

Job Summary

This position requires an experienced commercial professional with a strong background in commercial sports growth and revenue generation. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the USA Swimming headquarters.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Sales
    • Lead corporate partner sales for sponsors, suppliers, licensees for both USA Swimming and the USA Swimming Foundation
    • Prepare digital, print and video sales materials & proposals for potential partners
    • Develop and execute long-term digital sales strategy (ex. online, apps, Deck Pass on Team Unify, etc.)
    • Serve as primary liaison with external sponsorship sales agency
  • CRM & Business Intelligence
    • Oversee strategy and execution of customer relationship management platform for the organization
    • Oversee monetization of USA Swimming assets (ex. TV, digital, print)
    • Develop strategy for annual consumer and corporate partner research
    • Develop strategy for quarterly “dashboard” reports and tracking for Commercial Division with potential to expand to the organization
  • Membership Marketing
    • Lead the strategy of marketing and promotional campaigns to grow USA Swimming membership across key categories (ex. Premium, Flex memberships)
    • Support team efforts to grow in their areas
  • Event Marketing
    • Strategic planning and execution for event marketing, fan engagement, sponsor activations, and promotions.
    • Grow tickets sales and event revenue
    • Oversee fan experience and VIP hospitality at events
    • Incorporate partners into signage and on-site visibility of events
  • Staff Oversight
    • Oversee the following positions:
      • Sales
      • Digital Marketing & Business Insights
      • Membership Marketing
      • Event Marketing

 

Job Qualifications (knowledge, skill, ability, educational/training, experience, working environment, physical activities):

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, sports marketing and business development
  • 4-year degree in sports management, marketing and/or related field
  • A “can-do” attitude and professional demeanor
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel, at times extended and on weekends
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office for communication
  • Knowledge of web technology tools
  • Ability for public speaking
  • Knowledge of business management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, best practices and leadership
